A few years back I finally treated myself to a wool top hat. I love wearing it to formal yet quirky events, like the Webutante Ball, which comes up next week.
But what I’m even more excited about than the ball is that I found some fabulous UNISEX straw top hat to sell at Amé Amé that are perfect for spring and summer weather, more Gatsby like jazz age parties, and will keep some sun of your gorgeous face.
New straw top hats at Amé Amé $65 – $85. These hats are so fab they’re sold in Japan.
Not my best pucker, but c’est la vie. The top hat and feather boa grabbed a lot of good attention.
Mom’s often love colors and the rain, so what better last minute mother’s day gift than a cheerful Tray6 umbrella!
These stylish umbrellas by Tray 6 feature a resilient design and an enormous range of colors and prints. The prints are based on Japanese designs and are woven from a 190 thread count Pongee fabric. The frames are constructed from steel and fiberglass to ensure wind resistance. The handles are rubber coated and ergonomic for maximum comfort. With such a wide array of patterns, if you don’t find one to suit your personality, I dare say you may not have one.
A few weeks ago Aly Walansky asked the founder of Amé Amé (Teresa Soroka) for some thoughts on the hottest trench coats this season for the Completely You “Our Favorite Rainy Day Gear” Story. And this week the story got posted. (Our fingers are crossed that they fix the link so that the Soia & Kyo link directs to Amé Amé so you can support our small business)
Amé Amé is one of the unique places in NYC where you can try on Soia & Kyo, a brand known for tailored cuts and terrific “urban waterproof” / highly water resistant jackets.
When caught in a storm, it’s nice to be reminded there’s a God.
(In real life the color of these boots is a bit lighter looking with some lavender understone.)
These pink boots are made in Europe by a company called Maniera.
What’s nice about these boots is that they have soles with very good traction and they’re made of natural rubber. There are a number of rainboots made by good brands whose traction can wear out quite quickly and then the boots become rather unsafe when sidewalks are icey.

When facing cold weather, even on rainy or snowy days, for women I highly recommend wearing knee high boots with thick tights and a wool shirt dress or skirt and sweater as opposed to pants.
The lycra dries much quicker and you stay just as warm if not warmer.
And now with our extra durable Bootights by Leg Up, which are tights with built in you can be a sustainable fashion-ista by not having to throw away tights as often.
One of the big reasons we think Bootights will last you longer is that they have a “performance sock” built right into the tights. Thus you won’t quickly end up with holes near your big toe which often happens when you wear tights with boots.
You’ll have more comfort than with ordinary tights by wearing Bootights because built into the sock is arch support! Plus the sock has moisture-wicking capabilities that help your toes stay drier and more toasty.
If you need a little more convincing before coming into our store or buying from us online, here’s what the people of Bootights have to say about the awesome sock
moisture-wicking so feet are drier and warmer
compression arch support so feet feel supported and energized all day long.
top mesh so feet breath inside boots
sculpted cushioning so heel and toe are protected and comfy in boots
contoured fit of sock so boots fit amazing. no more slipping feet or bunching socks!
Last week during the cold spell in NYC and much of the Northeast, I finally fell in love with mittens. In the past I always thought they were adorable and sometimes nice for warmth, but I also found them rather inconvenient.
Then it hit me, gloves and mittens should be worn together! When the temperature drops severely I think it’s impossible for any sexy stylish leather gloves to keep you warm no matter if they’re lined with cashmere or the latest thinsulate.
However, suddenly I had toasty warm hands by layering over my lovely leather gloves a pair of mittens. And when I had to use the convenience of my fingers, like for the ATM, I didn’t have to expose my fingers to the harsh cold. Instead all I had to do was slip off a mitten!
Seriously – try it out!
Now you don’t need to wear bulky ski gloves that should only be used for the mountains or building snowmen and snowballs.
New leather gloves lined with cashmere and a preview of F/W 2013′s gloves to come. Plus a special, adorable pair of mittens. Both being sold at Amé Amé
The gloves I wear (missing a few studs) and the pink mittens I layered over them to give me warmth & still look stylish.
I’ve already told you why I love capes. Unfortunately if you were a dude, you were probably wondering if dudes can wear capes too.
Funny story, one day in Amé Amé a mom was trying on a cape, and her adorable 13 year old son who will truly be a lady heartbreaker in a few years (if he isn’t already) said “How come they don’t make cool things like this for dudes.”
I googled searched “men’s winter capes” and could hardly find anything. Most of the stuff was way to high-end fashion extreme looking.
However the other day on the street I saw this guy wearing a very cool looking cape for guys. While I think it’s hard for men who are less than 6ft to pull off a casual cape in a macho fashion, I do think it would be cool to see more men’s capes.
Difference between a cape and a poncho? A poncho has no front zipper or buttons.
